    Anne Spencer Memorial Foundation, Inc.
    Seek a Full-time Executive Director of Development

    Career Requirements & Responsibilities
    The Anne Spencer Museum in Lynchburg, Virginia seeks an experienced Executive Director to provide leadership and management for a dynamic cultural and arts organization and Historic Landmark and Garden, with an emphasis on fundraising to ensure the organization’s financial security and future success.

    Job Responsibilities

    • Oversee the Anne Spencer Memorial Foundation, Inc. annual budget including planning, preparation, monitoring, and administration.

    • Cultivate relationships with major stakeholders for the purposes of fundraising, including major gifts, for preservation and restoration, special projects, and operations.

    • Serve as principal advisor to the Anne Spencer Memorial Foundation, Inc and Board of Directors, regarding museum related concerns, programs, and or projects.

    • Utilize traditional, print, social, and other forms of media to increase museum attendance and foster organizational growth. Collaborate with community partners to incorporate Anne Spencer and the Anne Spencer Museum in the cultural narrative of the Lynchburg Regional Community and beyond.

    • Interact effectively with others. Be identified as an articulate, pro-active, visible, multitasker, hands-on and fully committed and engaged representative of the Anne Spencer Memorial Foundation, Inc.

    Qualifications

    EDUCATION: Master's Degree in Business Administration, Arts/History. Administration, Cultural Landscapes and/or a related field.

    • 4+ years of successful managerial and leadership experience as an executive director and/or

    • 4+ years successful leadership in a fund-raising capacity with a proven track record of both public and private fundraising abilities securing operational capacity as well as grant funding for programs.

    • Experience in financial management, including budget development and monitoring.

    • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and relationship building/networking skills.

    • A high degree of cultural competence and experience working with and serving diverse populations.

    • A deep commitment to supporting and promoting community, preservation, and arts/history programming.

    • Must be able to read cursive.

    Salary range $45 - $65k
